Distraction lurks around every corner
A reminder to myself...
There is a conspiracy to keep you from actually doing what is most important.
For creatives, Steven Pressfield called this The Resistance.
But even if your job isn’t “overtly creative,” the resistance is still there, keeping you distracted. It could look like too many meetings, ridiculous reporting hierarchies, or just regular way bureaucracy. It could be procrastination - self-delaying your efforts for any number of reasons.
Make no mistake, these obstacles have erected themselves to keep you from each day tackling what is most critical.
It is said that part of Elon Musk’s genius is his ability to tackle each day, the most critical thing. If you do this 200+ working days a year, you will be astounded by what becomes possible.
So - do you know what the most critical thing is for today?
And does your schedule reflect that?
At the end of the day, if you reviewed what you did, would you say it was focused on your critical priorities?
If not, why not? What do you need to do to remove the obstacles that have arisen?
